Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara (Water Resistant Version)

Back in June, I purchased Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara for around five dollars on sale(normally it can be priced from seven to twelve). The product claims to give you "maximum volume instantly". It also promises to give your eyelashes a "bold winged out look".

A wire brush comes in this mascara, but it is shaped like an hourglass not a conventional brush. The shape is supposed to lift your lashes up and wing them out into a cateye-style look. The bristles of this brush are longer on both ends than they are in the middle. The middle section of the brush is the perfect place to use to start application of this product. The brush may seem awkward to use so I will try to explain how I used mine.

The formula for this mascara is initially very wet and clumpy. You'll have to remove excess mascara from the brush for the first week or two of having this product. After those first weeks this water resistant formula dries out just enough to add a fair amount of length with one coat. As for volume, in my opinion this provides better volume at two coats or more.

Cover Girl Flamed Out Mascara in its water resistant form is fairly durable. It doesn't smudge easily when exposed to humidity and stands up to being worn outside during a short rain shower. As for this mascara's promises of instant maximum volume; that is at the very least an exaggeration. I noticed a good amount of length from this product but not a lot of volume. It doesn't turn all eyelashes into something reminiscent of the 60's either but it does give lashes a pretty good boost.
